Welcome !
Welcome to Anesidora Rattery, a small rattery based on the outskirts of Barnsley, South Yorkshire.
Anesidora Rattery was a faint idea in my mind, when in May 2011, I brought home six rats from a National Mouse Club show. Since a young age, I’d always wished for a rat. Their unique characters and sharp minds had left a firm imprint in my heart, after seeing a friend’s young does for the first time, around the age of six. So when I spotted the opportunity to adopt some myself from a fellow mouse breeder, I found it impossible to refuse.
My first rats were all Berkshires; three does and a buck - mix of black and beige siblings, whom still reside with me now. Always a fan of the marked creatures in the world, they were idea for me. However, I also managed to spot more rats being sold at the show, so came home with two extras. These were my first six rats; Nox, Pan, Una, Lux, Titch and Gabriel. A mix of show line and pet type rats. Since adopting these six, I have come home with a new rat at almost every NMC show, thanks to a wonderful friend and breeder in Yankee Doodle Stud.
Anesidora is a lone run rattery, tended to by a single person – Myself. Rats are not the only rodents in my household, though. I also breed and show mice, breed gerbils, and have two Cavies (Guinea Pigs). It’s a full house most of the time. I also tend the websites of both the rattery and Rosewood Mousery, while now attending college. I have plenty of commitments, but my animals are always at the top of my list. Currently, I am not a part of the National Fancy Rat Society or the Yorkshire Rat Club, but I eventually wish to be. I am, however, part of the National Mouse Club and the link to Rosewood Mousery is connected to the links tab, along with Facebook page links for both Rosewood and Anesidora.
I previously rescued rats under the prefix of The Pyxis Rat Rescue, but since I'm due to progress in my education, I can no longer rescue and only breed on the rarest of occasions. Any rats remaining in the rattery are either staying with myself as pets, or currently looking for homes.
